The B'nai Mitzvah is a very exciting time in a family and child’s life. At Temple Solel, we hope this will mark an important moment in your child’s’ Jewish journey. At a child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah, he or she leads the congregation in prayer, is called to the Torah to chant from this central scroll of Jewish life, and teaches the congregation.
Kef B’Yachad – 7th Grade
We are excited about the upcoming 7 th grade year! The 7 th grade year is filled with joy and community. Students participate in classes, tutoring and field trips. Parents join students for family programs which include precious time with the clergy. Extended family and friends celebrate with them at their B’nai Mitzvah. Here is an overview of what is to come!
Two field trips to Los Angeles Jewish Museums/Delis:
The Skirball Cultural Center is a place of meeting guided by the
Jewish tradition of welcoming the stranger and inspired by the
American democratic ideals of freedom and equality. We welcome
people of all communities and generations to participate in cultural
experiences that celebrate discovery and hope, foster human
connections, and call upon us to help build a more just society.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center is a Jewish global human rights
organization researching the Holocaust and hate in a historic and
contemporary context. The Center confronts anti-Semitism, hate
and terrorism, promotes human rights and dignity, stands with
Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the
lessons of the Holocaust for future generations.
One field trip to Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas
8-9 months of B’nai Mitzvah tutoring (30 minutes each week) prior to the B’nai Mitzvah
Two student/parent gatherings during which we will share special Jewish objects and memories and explore our thoughts about B’nai Mitzvah. This will give us a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other and share our hopes and dreams about our treasured life cycle celebration!
