The Temple Solel Ozrim (“helpers” in Hebrew) assist teachers in the classroom and serves as role models for the younger children. Their jobs include tutoring students, working with small groups, serving snacks, helping with clean-up, photocopying, and preparing art projects. The Ozrim make a commitment to work every session of Religious or Hebrew School. They arrive fifteen minutes prior to class and stay fifteen minutes after class.
Temple Solel students may first apply to become ozrim in grade 7. Students can apply to and become ozrim through grade 12. Applications are mailed home in the spring prior to the school year during which they work. Ozrim are notified of their hiring during the summer, and given their class assignment a few weeks prior to the school year.
Ozrim are valued members of the Temple Solel staff. Younger students often say that they want to grow up and be ozrim – just like the ozrim who are in their classrooms!
