Matt Hose Scholarship Fund

Matthew Hose was a vital part of the youth community at Temple Solel.  He was a multi-faceted musician and participated in the Kavanah band, playing saxophone and drums with infectious enthusiasm.  Music and Judaism permeated Matthew’s being, allowing him to connect deeply with people he met. He was a powerful leader who inspired others to share, expand, create more joy, community and love.  Matthew passed away in 2013 at the age of sixteen.

The Matt Hose Scholarship Fund was established to continue Matthew’s legacy in the same way he lived his life: he loved the Jewish Community and spent time encouraging others to participate.  The goal of the fund is to increase the engagement and leadership skills of those teens already involved in our Jewish Community.  The scholarship provides for one youth each year to attend SLBC, a national annual Jewish leadership conference, The student is selected on recommendation of the Temple Solel Youth Director.  The scholarship pays the fee for attending the bootcamp; travel expenses are the responsibility of the recipient.
