8th & 9th Grade Teen Journey


Exciting New 8th and 9th Grade Teen Journey Program - 2017-2018

Take a look at the elements of this new program!

1. Craig Parks will be the group leader for nineteen discussion sessions on Wednesdays (9th Grade) and Thursdays (8th Grade) from 4:30-6:00, beginning October 25/26. Come and explore teen issues with your friends and Craig. Some of the topics will include:

  • Why Being Right Isn’t Always Right
  • The Most Important Thing to a Teenager
  • The Secret to Happiness
  • Can I Doubt God and Still be Jewish?
  • Dream Your Creation and Create Your Dream
  • Would a Friend Do That?

2. Three local community service projects on Thursday afternoons from 4:30-6:00. These projects will include:

  • November 1, 2017
    • 8th, 9th and 10th Grade Hike and Conservation Program at San Elijo Lagoon
  • December 6, 2017
    • 8th, 9th and 10th Graders Volunteer in the Food Forest or Vineyard at Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas
  • Cook a Meal for the Abused Women’s Shelter

3. 8th Grade Desert Trip from April 27-29, 2018

  • Spend two nights in a hotel outside of Las Vegas
  • Attend Friday night services at a local synagogue
  • Hike Red Rock Canyon
  • See a show in Las Vegas

4. 9th Grade River Rafting Trip from May 26-28, 2018

  • Spend two nights camping at the Lower Kern River
  • River raft on Sunday and Monday
